Something Borrowed : Rivoli’s Bridal Jewellery Hire Service.

Something Borrowed by Rivoli

Because every bride deserves to feel extraordinary — from the rings on her finger to the diamonds at her wrist.

There is a moment, just before you walk through those doors, bouquet in hand, when everything comes together. The dress. The flowers. The ring. And now, thanks to Rivoli’s brand new Something Borrowed service, the diamonds too.

We are delighted to announce the launch of Something Borrowed: a complimentary jewellery hire service available to Rivoli brides who purchase their wedding rings with us. Choose from a curated collection of diamond pieces and wear them on your wedding day, on us.

The Tradition Behind “Something Borrowed”

The rhyme “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” has been woven into the fabric of wedding tradition for centuries. Its origins are rooted in Old English folklore, believed to date as far back as the 19th century,  though the sentiment it captures is far older.

Each element of the rhyme carries its own meaning. Something old represents continuity, a connection to the bride’s family and the life she carries forward. Something new symbolises hope and the bright future ahead. Something blue speaks of love, purity, and fidelity. And something borrowed? That is perhaps the most romantic of them all.

The tradition of borrowing was originally meant to bring good luck to the bride, the item borrowed from a happily married friend or family member was believed to transfer some of that happiness and fortune. To borrow something precious, something meaningful, was to carry a little piece of someone else’s joy into your own new chapter.

Today, the tradition lives on and at Rivoli, we thought it deserved a truly special update.
