Part of a limited collection marking 145 years since Seiko began as a clock and watch repair shop in Tokyo in 1881. The dial is in Edo purple, or Edo murasaki, a traditional Japanese colour linked to the Edo period. The edition is limited to 7,000 pieces.
It follows the Alpinist design first made in 1959 for mountain use, with cathedral hands, Arabic numerals, wedge indices, a rotating inner compass ring and the Alpinist logo. The case is 12.7mm thick with a super hard coating and sapphire crystal, water resistant to 200m, and the case back carries a limited edition engraving and the Mountain Device logo. Inside is the in house calibre 6R55, beating at 21,600 vph with 24 jewels and a power reserve of about 72 hours. It is fitted with an LWG approved leather strap.
